We shouldn’t have to think this way, but we do

I've been suicidal before, and not once has a reddit comment made me wanna call some hotline. In my experience, when you're really depressed, suicidal even, a link to a hotline comes of as...

"Here you go bucko, get help, there's something wrong with YOU, go fix it! Call these strangers and talk about stuff you can't even admit to yourself. They don't know you, but they'll try to convince you to definitely keep going in life, even though you suffered a lot lately and everything went to shit."

A depressed mind doesn't see much value in this. I'm all for the positive message and getting people the help they need, but a suicide-hotline comment is not very helpful in my experience.
