Macron on the caricatures and freedom of expression

In Spain the State is secular in theory, but in practise the Catholic church still keeps privileges after Franco agreed a Concordat with the Vatican. This was modified when our constitution was introduced, but even today our government helps fund the Church. Many publicly funded schools are also religious and officially administered by the Church, and their teachers don't have to follow the same process as their public counterparts to be selected.

Not to mention our freedom of speech is limited in the same way Macron is denouncing in OP's video. It's not officially considered blasphemy since Catholicism isn't mentioned, but "offending the feelings of the members of a religious denomination" can be prosecuted.

For example, in 2018, the left-wing actor Willy Toledo was prosecuted and later acquitted for posting on Facebook that he "shits on God and the dogma of holiness and virginity of Virgin Mary". During that same year, a 24-year-old man was fined 480€ for posting this picture on Instagram.
