any tea on chiyaan vikram..

Does Chiyaan Vikram's off-screen personality play a major role in his continued relevance in Tamil Nadu, despite the fact that his box office performance has been inconsistent over the last decade? He is far more publicly visible than Vijay or Ajith.

In a manner of speaking, yes. Vikram is known to work his ass off and take his roles seriously. There is also his fairytale run at the box office reminding everyone that Tamil cinema can still be broken into without major influence.

Vikatan reported that Vikram was ahead of everyone post the release of Saamy. There was even a cartoon of him running ahead of Rajni and Ajith.

There have also been viral videos showing him being nice to fans and in general an ego-free character.

His slate is not very clean though. There were loud rumours about him being a womaniser, albeit outside the industry. His spats with Prashanth and Ajith also made some news. The former almost broke his relationship with Prashanth. Luckily his fight with Ajith was down played, just like other incidents involving Ajith.

In terms of visibility, nobody can beat Ajith. The man obsessively stays off camera. So even a nobody like Mahat will have more media presence and public visibility than Ajith.

Vijay used to be like that till he realised that his stardom is different from Ajith’s and has since embraced it. His PR have also worked very hard on his public image. I would still credit Ajith with the better PR strategy. But Vijay knows what he 's doing.

Overall, Vikram 's image has changed from a character actor to a superstar to now an aging hero. His talent alone still attracts producers and directors like AjayGnanamuthu, Karthick Subburaj and the likes. But with one or two more flops, we may not see more of Vikram. I hope we don't see a sad end to such a decorated career.

Vikram is a dedicated actor

He takes roles very seriously and often in preparation of such roles - gives up a few films that could easily be hits. For Robot - he gave up 2–3 projects when he was at the peak and for Ravanan - he gave up 2 - 3 projects when he was badly required to do so - to maintain his position.

As for his box office - Since the success of Anniyan - Vikram has lost money in almost every movie including ‘I’ . Only Iru Mugan managed to break even and make a mild profit

His Personal life is not good. He is known to fool around with women (Although he has a rule not to do anything unprofessional to any actress on his sets), He was once financially impeccable but now has become a big time debtor - as his besant nagar house is going to be sold (Asking price Rs. 55 Crore if anyone is interested, it was purchased in 2002 at Rs. 1.50 Crore). He owes 8 - 14 crore for Varma/Aditya Varma fiasco and other producers owe him around 2–3 crores especially GV Menon.
