has anyone here ever lost their sense of humor?

Worked in television for 20 years. In comedy, on screen, as a writer, on the writing staff, punch ups - you name it. I've been lucky it's been my job/living this entire time. But the day - I mean the DAY i paid off my house I was hit with an overwhelming feeling.... "I don't care if anyone ever laughs again"....

Therapy and down time helped me face up to the fact that that comedy was my survival mechanism (like a lot of people). In society. Socially. Financially. The second I felt safe - I was also safe to stop performing like a seal. The need was gone. I'm still a funny bastard when I want to, but i'm not staying sharp anymore and I really don't feel the need to care. The next generation have different styles and need room to succeed. I'll find something else...

Just thought i'd give you a response that wasn't "you're depressed" - "you need medication".

My 2 cents. Listen to yourself, you'll know better than strangers on the internet. Do what feels right.
