You’re absolutely right, and the analogy u/hiddenmaven made was a terrible one, even more so if at the time of writing that comment they didn’t believe the reason why people don’t like the ending of GoT was because it doesn’t have a happy ending and doesn’t produce heroes. And the SAT thing was very stupid indeed.

As a crazed fan of the original “idea” and story of the GoT/ASoI&F universe, the lack of guaranteed happy endings and the absence of guaranteed black-and-white scenarios with the usual nearly perfect heroes is exactly what I love about it, i.e. the underlying realism of the story. But GoT S04-08 was just badly written with annoyingly underwhelming plots for the most part, and it got worse and worse toward the end, with a train wreck of an ending eventually.
