“A bird in the house is a sign of death—“

One day I heard a bazaar tapping noise in my kitchen. I found a tiny black bird trapped inside struggling to get free. After awhile he flew away and landed of the back wall of my garden. I felt so good, birds have always been symbolic to me and I was glad to set this one free. I turned my back to go towards the house, I whistled so that my dog would follow behind me but I did not hear his dangling collar. I screamed before I turned around because I just knew what had happened. My beloved terrier had attacked the young bird. Hysterical, I went inside and cried. My grandmother came to visit a few hours later and I explained what I witnessed, it upset her to see me so upset.

"A bird tapping at the window is a sign of good news" she said. "I hope so" I replied, "this one was tapping inside the window trying to get out" I continued. "Oh" she said literally making this face :/

I Googled it, a bird in the house, especially a black bird is a sign of bad news, often death. My grandmother died suddenly and I expectedly yesterday morning.
