Cage Kennylz: the suffering artist

Like many, I was introduced to Cage by the now infamous series of disses by Eminem. Admittedly, I never became a fan until years later when I did a deep dive into his entire discography. IMO, he is the ultimate suffering artist. Cage vividly describes life with an abusive father, his drug-fueled days of "dating" women, and venomous battle lyrics.

Cage's first album Movies for the Blind was released on the Eastern Conference label and mainly produced by DJ Mighty-Mi from High & Mighty. Guest producers are El-P and Necro. It has become one of my top ten albums of all time. It provides the perfect contrast to my stuffy corporate and sterile work life. What's the old adage, "one man's trash is another man's treasure?" Well, in this case, Movies for the Blind provides the ultimate form of escapism. One man's suffering is another man's pleasure. Sorry Cage!

Favorite tracks: Escape to 88, Suicidal Failure, CK Won and Agent Orange.

Hell's Winter was released on Def Jux label and mainly produced by El-P. Other producers include DJ Shadow, Blockhead, Camu Tao, and Rjd2. As the title would lead you to believe, it is certainly a darker album - both lyrically and spiritually.

Favorite tracks: Left it to us (feat. many Weathermen members), Grand Ol' Party Crash, Good Morning and the Death of Chris Palko.
