Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Even the tiniest amount of braking on Smokebox's Big Boy results in a catastrophic derailment

The lever goes from release>running>first app>lap>full app>emergency" is UK auto breaks. Which isn't what US locomotives, including the Big Boy, use.

It maybe the quality of the video, but I don't see the gauges change at all when you apply the breaks. So while you might be doing things right, the game is not only programed wrong, but the game is telling you to get fucked.

Again, cant read the manual if I don't buy the locomotive, and I'm not going to go out of my way to find the manual because I really don't give two shits.

As for the raildriver, I use it because its more intuitive than trying to memorize the keyboard layout, and WAY better than using Xbox controller. Because last I checked, you don't drive a train with a mouse and keyboard or Xbox controller. Source, I've driven and been in the cab of multiple locomotives of that era.

Long story short, Railworks has the breaking system all wrong. Combine that with piss poor physics means even if you are doing everything right, which you might be doing, you are going to have a bad time.

You dont want your train to derail? You may be SOL.

Try Open Rails

Try Trainz

Suck up up buttercup and try Run8
