Seriously annoyed with gaming sites when they pull this crap.

Good question! Let's deconstruct his article on some of his points:

1) He states first that his issue was with "outrageous amounts of enemy filled space between checkpoints". He said there are no checkpoints between the start of the first area, and killing the first boss (which for him was Cleric Beast).

Okay, for starters, this is a stupid thing to say. True, there are no checkpoints. And also true, the space between them, start to finish, can be lengthy and filled with enemies. Unless, of course, you unlock the shortcuts. Gates with levers, ladders, etc. all pepper the levels. They are not even that hard to find in the starting area. They just require thorough exploration to link the world together. Even though he spent ten fucking hours trying to take down the first boss, he somehow didn't unlock them? Don't blame the game for not giving you a way around the 40-45 minute trip to and from the boss, when the issue was that you were too lazy to explore and find the path they gave you.

Fail #1, he didn't explore and unlock shortcuts to make his time easier and more streamlined, which is the main complaint he has.

2) He said he doesn't want to have to kill the same enemies again and again, and he just wants the game to be rewarding. In a fundamental way, his look at reward is flawed. The reward is learning a pattern. To quickly dispatch an enemy without it even hurting you, because you've killed that enemy time and again, and know they're pattern to a T.

No, this isn't Skyrim where you can blow an enemy you just encountered for the first time to kingdom come with a fireball from 6 miles away. This is a tougher, more strategic experience, and he tried for 10 hours to play it like a different RPG. Which brings me to my next fail. This entire article is filled with evidence that he made no evidence to change his playstyle.

Let's look at his comparison to "Super Meat Boy". First of all, I have no respect for him trying to compare two games that have almost nothing in common and saying "this is why this one is better." No. Just.... no. See, he talks about how Meat Boy requires perfection in short bursts. You only have to be perfect for 10 seconds, and then never do that ten seconds again. So it's better, because you don't have to try over and over at the same thing, even after you passed it.

Here's the problem. Again, he either didn't do his research, or decided to ignore what he read. Because the whole point is that you don't have to perfect. I screw up in Bloodborne every time I run through a level. That's why you don't die in one hit, and have healing items to fix it. But you LEARN. Yeah, you do the same thing again and again. The fuckup is trying to do it the same fucking way, and complaining when it doesn't work.

Fail #2, he didn't try to learn, he just tried to blitz through things he staggered through the first time.

3) Complaining about no map. Ugh... I don't even.... just... ugh.

So many games, and I mean SO many games, have no map. Great old school RPGs (which harken back to the days of table-top) required you to draw your own. Well, guy... DRAW YOUR OWN. It doesn't even need to be complicated. Just labeled lines would have done it. You have such a problem with no map, make one you lazy fuck.

And he complains he doesn't want his hand held. Yeah, okay.

Fail #3, claims he doesn't want hand-holding, complains about no hand-holding.

4) "Impossible to hit him without getting hit myself" No. You just didn't learn. Again. "Had to go through the same 15 minute stretch to get back to the boss" Stop whining and figure it out. I can get from the Central Yarnham lantern to the cleric beast fight in five minutes. Through the shortcut gate to the left, down the steps, kill the guy, through the dark house (get some bullets in the process), through the ogre and crows (1-hit KO with 2H Axe charge attack), and bam, at the boss. And I did that without fucking reading how. Because I LEARNED.

"Wah, I didn't get a reward." Yes you did, numbnuts. Hey, you remember that cool badge? Now you can buy the Kirkhammer, a really cool early-game favorite amongst players. And yes, you got a small amount of "bloodbux". Sorry you didn't get enough for 10 levels.

Fail #4, greatest hits of all his previous bitching, plus whining about not getting a massive immediate reward.

He does everything in the exact opposite way of how the developers intended, and then whines that they didn't make it the way he wants to play it.

Bad gamer, bad article. Sorry I don't have sympathy for him
