Child care has so why not proper ratios aged care?

Sure. Again, I get what you're saying. It might work for community. I don't see it happening in aged care facilities though because it would require more staff to keep it running smoothly, and if they were willing to hire more staff, I wouldn't have such a bullshit hard job. Not to mention, we have what you describe already, sort of. We have school kids come in all the time to perform shows and keep resident company for an hour or so, with the teachers being responsible for the kids. Its good. Again, child care facilities have all the staff they need and laws to protect that ratio. They don't need help with care. We certainly, desperately, do. Also, I simply don't find it to be safe. The residents are NOT qualified to look after children, and the parents are paying for the kids to be minded by experts. What happens if something goes wrong, and Otto, triggered by his mild dementia and tendency for aggression, strikes a child? You can't charge him, he's not fully cognitive. Do you charge the facility? Carers? It seems a breeding ground for disasters to happen in my eyes. While it would be good for some of the residents, it would not help care staff one bit with getting all of our work done. It would only cause more distraction. We still need more carers, we need a law to be put in place. It's a solid idea, I'm really not knocking it. But we need more staff FIRST, then we can fuck with the paradigm.
