CirclejerkSopranos when I leave an absolutely wild schizo comment but it sounds vaguely like a Sopranos quote

I’ve gotta stick up for my guy/gal the cinematographer(s) and say that TV before The Sopranos didn’t really do much more than point at actors and shoot in similar, repetitive locations before The Sopranos. It started “Prestige TV” as we know it—and a lot of prestige TV is just rediscovering what made old films great. A few terrible transitions in 80+ hours doesn’t nullify a really interesting, ambitious, and varied cinematic language that was ahead of its time (for TV). I will attach some examples of this so you all don’t say I’m talking out of my ass, I really thing the show only suffers in terms of cinematography in comparison to, like, Succession and Mad Men and Better Call Saul, all of which are standing on the shoulders of this show.
