Client Feedback Thread

My experience with the new client so far on an IPAD MINI 2, however I think that most of it can be applied on the PC client. I’m not a native English speaker so forgive me If I’m not clear or I used some expressions wrong, if you need any clarification just ask:) I feel that the client feels disconnected design wise as there is too many different formats of screen/boxes across all menus, in this review I’ll be pointing UI stuff that I feel needs some changes. Note that this is always based in my opinion and anyone could disagree. Starting Once I click the Stoneblade logo to skip the intro there is a black screen for like 5-10 seconds, it last long enough to question if the game crashed, a Solforge logo or a loading words could easily improve this feeling. Menu 1) HOME: I feel that there is a lot of wasted space without much information displayed. To be fair I don’t know how to improve it design wise because I don’t know where to put this info without changing too much of the current client. However having different images (Wegu) changing over time or depending of your decks would make it better. 2) TOURNAMENTS: First menu. Again a lot of wasted space, the boxes seem floating, the image of Ironbeard without boxing seems out of place. Second menu (once you chose the tournament): Great. Nothing needs to change besides: - diminishing the font of the description text to fit the box or need less scrolling - centering the letters on the back button. CAMPAIGN: First Menu. It is fine, nothing really amusing. Maybe reducing the boxes to half (staying on the right side) with and image of the campaign/enemy on the left side (like wegu’s image from the home menu). PC Note: Remove the text description from the pointer. Second Menu (once you chose the campaign): Need to be redone. A lot of waste space, let me try to describe what I think should like, keep in mind that I’ll be referring a lot to “Tournament’s second menu” (TSM) which I think that is the best. - Needs a back button like in TSM. - Campaign tittle, doesn’t need its own box, put on the top and remove the “selected options” label, again, like in TSM. - Left box: The same image that I was referring in the first menu, which is the image of the campaign. - Right box: Divide this into two boxes. A big one on the upper side where is the description of the campaign and a lower smaller box with “start game” if it is a preconstructed campaign or “Select a deck” if available. In case of selecting a deck, a new menu appears similar to how is the screen now but with three columns of decks to make easier, once you have chosen a deck, you are moved back to the former screen but instead of “Select a deck” there is “Your deck name”. In this new screen don’t forget the BACK button. PLAY: First Menu. It is fine, but again there is a lot of unused space. Second Menu (once you chose the opponent type): Same feeling as with Campaign. Mainly remove the left box and: - No BACK button - Opponent type, doesn’t need its own box, put on the top and remove the “selected options” label, again, like in TSM. - Use three columns for the selection of the deck. - For the AI games you can keep the left column to choose the difficult and a lower right box to see the player and the AI selected decks. Honestly, I’m not very convinced on this one. - For “Challenge friend” same as AI, lower right box for Opponents and for your deck. First choosing opponent and then choosing deck, same format for both selections and always having a BACK button. OVERALL: I would simplify and move TOURNAMENT, CAMPAIGN, and PLAY to the same screen. A two column screen with box styled selections with the left column with WW, Constructed, draft and campaign and the right column with unranked, ranked, Single player and Challenge friend. 4) COLLECTION: I won’t really change anything on this. Only adding more features like in the old client like, text mode and “sort by” options. 5) STORE+BUY GOLD: Remove the featured tab and put the buy gold instead. Card of the day must go under the “items” category. 6) PROFILE: I miss a profile tab to check your rank, games played, victories, season stats, overall stats, tickets, etc, whatever the community wants to keep track All these changes doesn’t need a huge rebuild as most of the assets are used or reused from somewhere. Most changes are or adding Back buttons or trying to make the design more solid and similar. Finally with all this changes I would change the upper tab two buttons per side and the solforge logo in the center as it is. Left side with home and store, center (logo) with play (where all modes would be) and right side with collection and profile.
