No single market access for UK after Brexit, Wolfgang Schäuble says

The 21st century media in Europe cares so little about fact that it works in terms of "faction" - fiction and fact mixed together - and has long gone from being a facilitator of information to hardcore political activism. It cannot be trusted at any point.

The Danish media also allowed the Danish People's Party to lie blatantly when we recently had a referendum on our opt-outs. We needed to remove one of our opt-outs and replace it with a case-by-case opt-in agreement because Europol would be moved to the supranational level and so — if we did not remove opt-out — we were to lose access to Europol. The Danish People's Party got ridiculous amounts of airtime and every single time they said "we can just get a new deal, we won't even be in a worse position". Move forward by just a few months and voilà, Donald Tusk points out that getting a new deal will be difficult, perhaps even impossible, at a meeting with our Prime Minister in Copenhagen. Everyone is scrambling to get a deal of any kind at all done, but the legal work itself makes it extremely difficult to finish all this work before 1 January 2017, when Denmark will officially leave Europol.

The media gave extraordinary (unusual) amounts of airtime to the Danish People's Party, who just kept repeating whatever they felt at that time. When critics pointed this out now once the election was done and we're in a horrible situation, they simply said "maybe our communication was not top dollar on this" (they repeated it day in and day out, the same thing, "no matter what a deal will come") and "no, we still believe in a deal". Madness.

Thus my conclusion at the top of this comment.
