I was an OG blogsnark reader, migrated over from GOMI, and they were the victims of a troll job (like an old school brigading that used to happen on bulletin boards back in the 1990s) in summer 2020 that they all fell for and made into a real, massive conflict while trying to appear woke amongst the events going on in the world at that period in time. The sub derailed for weeks on end, multiple offshoot subs opened, mods were driven away, endless "state of the sub" threads with high drama created mostly by 2-3 people that were new users, etc. It didn't recover from that and has never been tolerable since then. The sub always had issues (it's a snark sub, this form of entertainment is people at our worst, why does this have to be explained to anyone) but it got completely taken down and the culture that evolved there in its place is weird and not really a snark culture. I read there occasionally still because I used to find so many IGers to follow from those threads, but it's full of posters who don't follow the people who are being snarked about, closely or at all, and take snark personally and want to downvote or criticize in response.
