  1. Yes, I just skimmed and saw the part about them following the police outside the mall, I didn't see that it was a separate mall. That doesn't change the underlying law though, which most people misunderstand, and my post was mostly clarifying the law in Canada

In that case this is partially on the security guard. They shouldn't be calling the police unless the people refuse to leave the property. They don't need the police to inform someone they're banned from a property.

  1. Not always true. Some minor charges like this can be an issue of optics. But it doesn't sound like they actually broke the trespass law in this case

  2. See this is not a very good point. You're using "teen" to imply small and weak, but we all know there are high school guys who are built like refrigerators. Even unarmed, if one of them resisted, there is a good chance they'd get hurt.
