Death spiral? Implosion? Collapse? Uh, none of the above. And that’s what Republicans really can’t stand about Obamacare: It’s working.

Before Obamacare I was paying $330 per month for a policy with a $5,000 deductible. So paying $250/$7,000 four years later does not sound completely out of line. Also, if $250 per person is actually what you are paying out of pocket (and you are getting a $0 subsidy), then that must mean that your payment is actually a very small percentage of what is a way above average income. Living above your means in a big house, in an upscale neighborhood are you? Have a huge mortgage payment? Sorry, but I have don't have much sympathy.

I believe the real problem here is out of control healthcare costs. And neither political party has the guts to address that. Just for perspective, I caught pneumonia a few months ago and spent two days in hospital (my first time ever). No special treatment really, just some IV fluids, a couple of inhaled drugs, and bed rest. And the bill for those two days was for just under $18,000. As well, my best friends wife recently passed away at a young age of cancer. I was told that her total bills for two years of treatments came in at roughly $2,000,000. Are you really ready to pay that two million dollars if you get cancer? Or are you wanting to stick someone like me, who ends up subsidizing people who don't buy health insurance, with the bill.
