Did I Dodge a Bullet?

You gotta pick your poison, luckily I don't live on campus anymore but I have lived in most of the dorm buildings/the reflection and this has been my conclusion on a 1-10 scale

Dorms - Generally decent to live in, but pretty expensive for what you get and it can vary very heavily in quality

Overbearing - (10) - RA's will be up your ass, constantly asking and checking on you. Rules and policies are pretty strict too. Something as simple as opening your window could end with a disciplinary action

Cost - (8) - There's some cheap options, but if you want your own personal room you're gonna be paying for it.

Quality - (10)- Dorms are really well upkept. I don't know why, but I never had any issues with my dorm needing repairs or being unpleasant. Piedmont north residents will say otherwise though.

Student Housing - overall shit, but not extremely shit in any particular way (The reflection is terrible at everything)

- Overbearing - (4) - They really don't care what you do, but they do take advantage of you being a student. They may close amenities early, or do room inspections, but thats about as far as that'll go.

- Cost (0) - Generally these buildings get their money off students who are (A) getting a refund and want a easy pathway to pay rent (not that it isn't already easy) and B, Students who don't care cause their parents are paying. If you live at the reflection or the mix and get a 4 bedroom, you'll be paying roughly 1100 a month. Combined you and your roommates are paying 4400 a month for a apartment. Absolutely insane

- Quality -(5) - They look pretty but they're usually in need of extensive repairs that just aren't coming. Not to mention generally incompetent management.

Non student Apartments are the best option.

- competitive pricing

- Landlords fuck off like they should

- If quality is shit you can demand repairs or easily leave lease
