Engagement Photos?

We're going to take them - we're scheduled in July (got engaged last October, wedding is this October). Our photographer is where our wedding will be (Outer Banks, NC) so we've scheduled it for when we'll be there again. We don't plan to use them for save the dates or anything else, really, so the later timing isn't a big deal for us.

Had it not been included in our package, I doubt we would have paid extra for it. However, it is included, so we're going to take advantage of it. My primary reason is listed right in your OP:

Usually I'm the photographer, not the subject of photos and my FH is quite introverted. I'm happy to give anything a go and my FH is shy.

Since we're not using them, in my mind, it's practice. Both of us hate having our photos taken, and I'm a photographer so I am FAR more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. And I have more photos of the palm of my fiance's hand than of his face - he can't stand being in photos, either. But since we're paying for a photographer, I want us both to feel a little more comfortable being on "the wrong side" of the camera.

Since I can't really offer post-shoot experience, I can just tell you what our plan is. We're going to go to the Hatteras Lighthouse (my favorite spot on earth, also where he proposed) just before sunset. I don't know what we'll wear or do, yet - I guess I plan to take one or two nice outfits, and maybe a fun outfit (or maybe bathing suits and a frisbee/volleyball since we'll be on the beach? I dunno! Again, these aren't really being used for anything, just practice, so why not something fun!)

I don't think you should do them if he really doesn't want to and it would cost you extra, though, just because other people want you to do them. But I do look forward to it, even if they're not actually for anything :]
