Everyone's talking about Hurricane Matthew

I'm a fan of the brewery, but I think this can was infected. Hazy brown color, not much aroma. Taste had tart, phenolic flavors and also seemed oxidized, with cardboard flavors. Hope to revisit this one down the road.

12 ounce can - $2.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Canned On: 08/17/16.

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazed, amber-hued body with a thin, off-white head that dissipates rather quickly.

Smell: A low, unappealing aroma, hinting at waterlogged breadcrusts, stale fruit, basic brewed tea and a little earthiness.

Taste: Toasty, bready with a sweetish sip of muddled apple juice and old sweetened tea. Herbal, earthy tone and an odd chemically bent with a little bitterness. Tangy, lightly herbal finish. Good heavens.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Low carbonation. Lightly tongue-coating mouthfeel.

Overall: A straight-up miss that falls flat compared to even mediocre Oktoberfest beers.

Appearance: Medium clarity deep amber body, one finger head that dissipated to a lasting beige collar. Good lacing.

Aroma: Toast malt forward with hints of dark fruit and caramel. Oak adds a nice depth.

Flavor: Woody and earthy character come first, likely from the Madeira oak (maybe hops too). Toasty malt character backs that up, fig is light but present.

Mouthfeel: Crisp as a new $100 bill.

Overall: Another subtle, complex, and innovative brew from Wild Heaven.
