Why exactly is Edelgard so polarizing?

People are just unable or don't want to even try to understand her. That's why we always hear stuff like "tyrant", "warmongering bitch", "nazi", "fascist" and other funny names which have nothing to fo with her.

Two of the most annoying and stupid arguments that annoy me so much is:

— "Why did she start the war, she could've just talk things out". That's kinda funny to say about the game, where Rhea and 3 lords don't have the full picture and have trust issues. How can you talk things out? Sometimes, it's just impossible.

— "Her future is built on blood and tears" — just like the present? Everyone just ignores people who are suffering during these "peaceful times". And there's a lot of characters like this and Edelgard one of them.

She is reminding me of Lelouch from Code Geass, both of them had terrible ways to do a good thing, sacrificed lots of innocent people, manipulated friends, but at the same time everyone praises Lelouch, while Edelgard can only dream about that.

She is obviously a tragic hero or maybe antihero, but not a villain. There's a good reason for what she is doing, but everyone ignores that. Sometimes, it even feels like people believe she is worse than TWISID. But thanks God we got 3 Hopes, which is less subtly showing that Edelgard is not a terrible person and not some kind of a maniac nazi.
