Free Agent Assignments - Week 6 of 8

Currently the only safe guard we have in place within the published Season 4 rules is that any player dropped from a MLTP team is able to sign up as a Free Agent and will be assigned to a NLTP through the weekly process.

The only exception to this rule is covered in Article II, Section III, (d), (3) which states:

Players that were dropped from a MLTP team are eligible to sign up as a Free Agent unless the player was removed as a disciplinary action.

A question was raised to determine if "inactivity" was considered a "disciplinary action." The ruling was that it was not which meant that since Ebola in this case signed up before the weekly Wednesday midnight deadline PST, that he was eligible to be assigned to a team.

In my weekly note to the NLTP Captains as the Free Agent Admin, I usually try to highlight or bring attention to any names that I recognize for various reasons. Any player with a MLTP history would certain be highlighted in my Thursday message to the Captains.

Then it just comes down to waiver points. Waiver points are issued to NLTP teams based on two primary factors:

  • Weekly 1-12 waiver points are issued based on Conference Rank (i.e. #1 team gets 1 point, #12 team gets 12 points)

  • 100 waiver points are issued if the NLTP team loses a player to a MLTP team.

In the second case, the argument is that essentially teams that have lost a player to MLTP could replace them with someone with MLTP experience or any other free agent. It gives the Captain the flexibility to choose.

That's not to say we're not open to suggestions, but the process is at least something we've considered. I honestly don't know what the ruling would be on the MLTP players that left their MLTP by their own choice.

My feeling is that they shouldn't be allowed to play in NLTP, but the rules are shakey on that subject as they are currently written.
