Growing up “smart”

Yes. I didn’t realize how smart I was until freshman year, because before that I was just one of the “honors kids”, but after I got the highest GPA in freshman year (we didn’t do that in middle school), the expectations were raised. Honestly I don’t have the same problems as you in terms of stressing about school to an extreme level, because there r plenty of nights that I just skip out on hw (never on hw that is gonna be collected tho) and I still do fine. I think the “gifted” mindset is dangerous because in my small town I’m smart enough to be valedictorian and not have to try as hard as the kids who are trying to compete with me for that title, but I feel like that could change in college. Like I’m by no means a slacker but there r nights when I skip my calc hw because I know how to do the stuff so there’s no point in wasting two hours on it. So yeah idk. Ik that I’m smart enough to succeed at a T20 school but I’m just nervous that the entire mindset will be different because I obviously won’t be the “naturally smart girl” anymore.
