Hahaha

I see it now. My way of thinking is that Frank is far more interesting and far more relatable when he’s seen the same way we all are, as a flawed human being. This Zappa God worship thing, imo, trivializes him down to a cartoon character. It’s shallow and boring. And, as you pointed out, something that he hated. When I “auditioned” he asked me if I was a fan, or knew any of his music, or his cult mythology - and when I responded “no” I was expecting dismay or hesitancy, but instead his face lit up and he said something like “oh good!” He was so complicated it’s impossible to explain. Huge effort to create a fanbase, hates fans but acts like he loves them when on stage, unless he needed to be cruel to a mass of people, but selects certain fans to bring into his circle because he needs ideas for songs and his mythological vocabulary based on what it’s like to be out in life because his image requires purposeful seclusion.
