On September 15th, 1978, 'Studio Tan' is released. The basic tracks for "Let Me Take You to the Beach" date from a 1969 session for the album 'Hot Rats'. The rest of the material was recorded between 1974 and 1976.

This is the album that “made up” Läther I’m the most unfair too. I just never listen to it. I love the idea of Greggary Peccary as a closer too much, it confuses me to hear it open up and then hear “Revised” (a beautiful piece) afterwards.

Someone made an excellent amazing post here more or less proving that Zappa really did design these albums this way, and I buy the whole argument, but it’s easier for Sleep Dirt and Orchestral Favorites—-I still can’t help but hear this one as odds and ends put together, even if the title does suggest a different thematic way of understanding the material (incredible studio manipulations & composing with a band). In short I still have to get over myself and give it a proper try, lol. Maybe today
