How does Hyperphantasia affect your drawing?

Artist here. Painting. Drawing. Graphic design. Animation. Music composer/orchestrator. Sculpting.

It think it gets in the way in most areas and caused some very very bad habits.

In me early days, seeing/hearing the end results so vividly made me think I can skip planning, rough steps, etc, and generally interfered with my ability to be objective and consider the audience. I skipped all the steps to the end frame like the “how to draw the owl” meme. This set me back years.

Now I realize the superpower of it is helping with the editing process. I relearned art principles, and now start with concepts and basic composition and work down to detail, and then edit things until they’re right. And editing seems to be where this helps best.
