I want to figure out an acceptable way to actually stop rape and violence.
I do not accept prisons. Prison means locking human beings in cages where they are vulnerable to all sorts of bad things. It often ends up with them raping or doing violence against other people in the prison or having it done to them. Not even rapists deserve to get raped.
I don't accept solitary or group confinement either. It is psychological torture and can cause permanent damage. Whether kept in solitary confinement or group confinement, people often come out of with even more problems than they started with and then go on to do more violence.
What we are currently doing in the USA is already very expensive. If we can redirect resources in a different way that could be actually effective in stopping rape, I think we should change our laws or government to make that happen.

I don't think anyone should go on to any further step until the lower ones are thoroughly explored. I do not believe that punishment is an acceptable response to violence. I support using our resources to help the victim recover, to help the abuser truly change, and to prevent the abuser from doing future harm.
I don't think we should have juries hearing a case, determining guilt, and also deciding a sentence. If a person is found guilty, they should then be started on a path for justice. There should be involvement from the victim and the community along the way. Handing the abuser over to the state or a private prison company after being found guilty is wrong. If we have more involvement by the actual people who are affected, we can do better and probably also avoid or correct more wrongful convictions as well.
Step 1: Teach consent to kids as a serious thing. Hopefully that would work for most people. Put sufficient resources into this so that as many people as possible do not pass this step.
Step 2: If someone doesn't get the message from the teaching and still rapes somebody or does violence, let's see if there is any kind of therapy that can get them to not do that anymore. Maybe some kind of talk therapy or medication. Put sufficient resources into this so that as many people as possible do not pass this step.
Step 3: Professional surgical amputation whatever part they use to hurt people. This is not just referring to testicles or a penis. Hands, feet, etc. I'm fine with whatever has to come off. This needs to be done properly so they don't get an infection and need more medical care. They also would need all sorts of therapy and assistance in living, so really we should be doing a LOT of step 1 and 2 so we don't need to get here.
Step 4: If someone still manages to hurt people as a limbless, heavily medicated eunuch, I guess we should consider the death penalty at that point.
