Laying on the floor next to my toddlers bed on NYE because fireworks keep waking her up

Doesn't bother me as much now that it is only 2 nights a year (and my area is good about it... We basically have a spoken but non-binding deal that everyone skips the home displays and in return the neighbourhood goes all out on one massive one on bonfire night and people have been sticking to it really well).

When I lived in the US I hated it so much, though. First it was just 4th of July and New Year. Then people in my neighbourhood started setting them off for everyone's birthday as well. Probably 5 or 6 families doing it for every birthday in their family, so it was a LOT of nights a year by the time I moved away. Ugh, it was not a good time to have dogs and a baby. It just felt so self centered for those people to feel like they could keep everyone for streets around awake at night because one of them was having a birthday.

When we lived in Germany right after that it was illegal except on NYE. That was pretty good.
