Liberal Regressive tries to prove gun ownership is dangerous, becomes distraught to find it's the opposite and she has been wrong her whole life

She believed something, did research and came to the conclusion that she was wrong, and changed her opinion. How is that a bad thing?

Its not. But lets take a look at this.

Older men, who make up the largest share of gun suicides, need better access to people who could care for them and get them help. Women endangered by specific men need to be prioritized by police, who can enforce restraining orders prohibiting these men from buying and owning guns. Younger men at risk of violence need to be identified before they take a life or lose theirs and to be connected to mentors who can help them de-escalate conflicts.

I would like to start with the beginning,

Older men, who make up the largest share of gun suicides, need better access to people who could care for them and get them help.

That sounds great, if those men are wanting the help and there is simply no one providing it then that could be an answer. However, some men truly get tired of this world or their issues and chose by free will to eat a bullet. My observation here is not covering mentally ill (as in legit ill) but normal people that make such a choice. I am not considering Religion and its strings here just the basic person and they are fed up with life for whatever reason. It happens and the standard answer you hear, especially in the south where I live, is that they didn't have Religion in their lives. Many see it as a path to happiness and suspect that is what is wrong with people who do these things, the tools used for suicide can be blamed after and guns are the easy one to pick out. Bleach will also kill you if you drink it I think, its just much slower and some want out now not later.

Women endangered by specific men need to be prioritized by police, who can enforce restraining orders prohibiting these men from buying and owning guns.

Ok, I am not sure which women the author is referring to here. I have observed some women can be attracted to men with problems. In a milder sense my own mother is one of these people. She puts up with an emotionally (I am not talking Patrice O'Neil type) abuse, its not a game or a battle of the sexes type of thing.. just straight up emotional abuse and yeeeeaaaarrrrs or needless fighting. Its not even for a point. I refer to this a "Single White Female" syndrome. As a person who has "white knighted" and "black knighted" because reasons, I can tell you there is no helping that woman unless she wants it.. which she probably doesn't. I say all this because the world is filled with crazies and like all sorts of things for any number of reasons. Some women maybe attracted to the "dangerous men". You will not be able to help them unless you force it upon them, probably will not be a lasting change.

Reminds me of a karate story, when a master was asked if he could defend himself against a gang of hooligans he answer was yes. They asked him if he would do karate chops and how he would handle the knives and guns, his answer was he wouldn't have put himself in such a place to begin with.

You can't change attraction, an individual might grow out of it. You can't change hormones and you can't talk experience into someone forcefully naive. Those things take time and being hurt by experiences to learn. Like the old saying, some people can observe and electric fence will shock you if you pee on it. Some people have to get shocked to believe its real and change on the inside.

If this argument is just about "abuse" then their are too many factors to consider here in this response but ask yourself why they are there.

Younger men at risk of violence need to be identified before they take a life or lose theirs and to be connected to mentors who can help them de-escalate conflicts.

Many of the same arguments I posted above.
