Blaire White's an interesting one. Almost certainly a sign that the battle on sexual/gender minorities is largely over; the progressive view won. Future conservatives will probably be people who accept people like Blaire White, once the old guard dies off.
(Though of course that doesn't mean there's not still progress to be made, or that there won't always be a segment of society that opposes it. There's always more bigots and more awkwardly misinformed people being made.)
On the other hand, I think the presence of people like Blaire White presents an interesting difficulty for liberal political circles in our hyperpolarized world, where progressive liberals are eager to give a voice to marginal groups (rightfully so), as well as eager to silence conservative voices they view as ignorant, hateful, or malicious.
Transgendered conservatives are as thorny a problem as intolerant Muslims who would like to ban things like homosexual behavior. (Obviously Muslims are not inherently intolerant; I am only referring to those Muslims who, in fact, are.)
What's a progressive to do when Blaire White says something they find unconscionable? Silence trans voices? If certain oppressed Muslims clamor for the oppression of other marginal groups like those in the LGTBQ community, how do you support them both and reconcile their unreconcilable views within the same political sphere?
I suppose this is way overthinking things when I am posting under a gay porn joke. Lol.
I just think about this a lot, I guess because I consider myself a progressive, and I feel like the progressive movement has some hidden friction points that are going to get more and more difficult as minorities become gradually accepted into conservative circles and eventually are fully incorporated.
Right now most marginal groups identify with the liberal political movements that supported them in the beginning of the fight for civil rights; what clashes will start to show up when "your" people, the people of color and the LBGTQ community and the downtrodden religious groups are no longer "your kind of people"?
