Looking for theater/Nordic/freeform/jeepform/con/intercon/one-shot/etc. LARPs

I've played fallen stars, love in the age of debasement and limbo. And hirelings. So I can only review any of these.

But, if your serious about it I could check, ask someone.

The larps I've played has been well made, or, I didn't like the hirelings, and fallen stars was a bit too sentimental for me, and I didn't really get in to it. But it is at least well made. Limbo is simple, you make characters, with a method, then throughout the game the only new thing happening is death or someone selling tickets.(It is a game about the place between life and afterlife, and you don't know where you're going, the way out is with tickets) It is deceptively simple to set up and play, and quite good. Though, one thing of note, there is a lack of relations, I feel, so you have to have some initiative, but there is a lot of stuff to "initiate", and the tickets create their drama. It has received high praise, I believe. So, maybe recommend that one. It is relatively heavy, can be, but it can be made a bit more comedic, simply by how the players play their characters. And has room for one player in the genre of tragedy, and another in a black comedy.

Love in the age of debasement is about dysfunctional relationships, and happens on a café, at the climax of tension. Maybe it is solved? Maybe not. It is a superb larp, but very heavy and it matters, a lot, who you play with, that's why the description of the game recommends someone with a bit of sosial "analytical" skills, to distribute the players. So I don't know about that being your first larp.

Anyway, if you're interested in these chamberlarps, I would definitely buy the book. I should also, heh heh, but has been lazy, and I haven't needed it as an opportunity to run one of these larps never has happened. But most of the larps are good, so lots of lots of material. And, not all of them are depressive. There are comedies there.
