My new gym shirt

disliking this, for egotistical purposes

It has not been established that other users dislike your shirt for "egotistical purposes." It's been established that others don't like your shirt. You are ascribing motives and emotions to other people. In other words: you're assuming how people think and feel, instead of finding out how they think and feel.

And it is an egotistical thing to be offended by as it is trying to create an orthodox worldview of who they deem sacred.

The Buddha used words for things being holy and sacred, and he used them to refer to himself and his followers. Before dying he told people where they should go for pilgrimages. He defined an entire cosmos filled with deities, demons, and so on.

"Sacred" is part of Buddhism. Don't kid yourself into thinking Buddhism isn't a religion or doesn't see some things as "holy." That's self-deception.

Its very un-buddhist.

K.

Walking around telling people they are offended by their very unoffensive shirt is very far from buddhism.

Strange grammar. I don't see anyone claiming that you were offended. I see people saying it's either offensive to them or would be offensive to others.

Once again, that you don't think your shirt is offensive has little bearing on whether it is actually offensive or not. Your claim that the Buddha wouldn't care doesn't match up with the Buddha who defines pilgrimage sites, advises reverence of his deceased body, and even taught that beings could progress on the path by merely thinking about the Buddha. You are inventing a Buddha and Buddhism that agrees with you; you're not the first and you won't be the last.

I delight in people becoming more rational.

As you should. People being indifferent to or liking your shirt doesn't make them rational. Contrarianism and iconoclasm also don't necessarily indicate rationality. The combination of critical thought and logic indicate rationality.

Im right, you are wrong.

If only life were so simple.
