however, when someone buys 5 sprint pm2s and sells 5 of them for double the price that's scalping to me.

That is what dealers do though. The wholesale price to dealers is a fraction of the retail price.

If the wholesale price is far too low, that is the fault of the manufacturer, not the buyers and resellers. They know what they are doing. They made the knives and know the numbers.

So, a "scalper" and the resellers are an inevitable result of inappropriate pricing.

When large groups of people do this it leaves actual knife collectors SOL unless they want to pay that doubled price.

So if a sprint run is $200, and the scalpers sell them for $400, the market value is $400, and after they are all sold, there are none left and everybody who has them has paid around $400 (or kept it after paying $200 and gave up the extra $200 they could have gotten by selling it).

If they were just initially sold for $390, everybody who wanted them would still get them, and nobody would be annoyed because they felt they "missed out".

It is the lucky minority who get them $200 who actually want to keep them, and this is a game the manufacturer is playing. They make it seem like a lottery, that a minority has a hope of getting it at a steal, but that is just a minority.

Not saying it's wrong, but what they are doing still fucking sucks for people who want those knives.

Yes, but the people causing the problem are the manufacturers and ADs who set the price too low.
