Cryptocurrency reminds me of Republican politics.

  1. Invent a problem for which only you are offering a solution (democratization of currency, private transactions, etc.) Never really explain how these "problems" actually effect the average individual or how your solution addresses those issues directly.

  2. Fail to actually solve those "problems" (there's a central authority in charge of the ledger who can fork it, transactions are anonymized, but less private than traditional currency and easily deanonymized for all but the most studious users)

  3. Rely on the complexity of the topic to obfuscate the problems with it while decrying experts and critics as haters and naysayers with a vested interest in the current system

  4. Hide or ignore all externalities and problems involved with your solution (high energy costs, issues involved with deflationary currency, transaction costs, etc.)

  5. Make a bunch of money off the people who buy into your solution

  6. When original solution fails offer new twist on solution that will fix all the problems with old solution, make more money. (Ethereum)
