My issue with the base game that the DLC fixed

That's interesting, cause I personally saw the reveal the nomai and the sun station DIDN'T cause the supernova as a twist, cause the game was setting that up as a solution and leading the player to speculate that they could save their planet by just stopping that somehow. I've seen so many tales of science gone wrong through overreach that the idea that the nomai were actually just curious, thoughtful people who followed knowledge as best they could seemed like more of a reveal. And of course the fact that them building the sun station, even if it didn't work in their time, is what ultimately allowed you to ever understand what was happening.

For me that helped build the games theme of the spirit of discovery building on itself, and our actions resonating into the future and unknown even after our time has ended, in a way it wouldn't if they'd been to blame. So it was a lot more interesting to me this way.

That said, I absolutely agree the Strangers were a great contrast to both the nomai and hearthians, and the contrast did really enrich the main story in the process.
