Chinese - There is no word for Yes, why do I see so many teaching wrongly?

I know that now but I didn't know that then. I just try to speak and communicate when I can and I learn as I go along. As bad as my Portuguese is though, Portuguese speakers still understand me for some reason and seem to appreciate my effort.

As for the stance on the use of sim, you might be right but you haven't provided any examples to back up your claim. One could say it's not your job to educate me but then I don't see any reason to have even put forth a counterargument.

Interesting fact, the Royal Academy of Spanish actually prefers the term filme instead of pelicula but no Spanish speaker seems to use it in real life other than in magazines or some elite super-educated individuals. But I could be wrong, the hispanophone community is pretty large.
