The painting is probably fine, but the photography needs a lot of work. The white parts of this painting look like a mid tone grey due to the poor lighting. Then, there's the slight fuzziness - almost certainly due to the poor lighting.
Other than that, the petals look like they might have a delicate shading, which would be really nice if I could see it properly. I can't tell if there's shading on the stem of the rose.
I don't know why so many posters hate scanners, but a decent scan is a lot better than a bad photo. If you can get a scanner, they are not hard to use. They are not expensive, either. I got a Canoscan 300 for about $60.
