New York State Reaches Landmark Deal On Green New Deal-Style Climate Bill

So then you admit that the numbers you used for the full breadth of nuclear jobs (I think it was 195k?) would be the matching metric to green energy's total of 175k? With the green deal those numbers could be even soon, do you consider that a bad thing?

As long as we don't frack in NYS, I don't mind it being brought in from Pennsylvania, they need the jobs. But I do hope they tighten laws (or at least enforce properly) the construction of the containment cylinders used with the fracking rigs and protect our aquifers. Nat gas is as clean as it gets when it comes to fossil fuels, so a step in the right direction and a bridge to a renewable future.

Maybe it is, I just remember driving by Ginna after 9/11 and seeing the entrances blockaded with tanks, armored cars, humvees, mounted guns, and a bunch of troops. For about 5 years. It was clear it didn't necessarily have JUST to do with energy production, since the grid is actually pretty vulnerable (from what I've read, anyway) and that it was viewed as a potential target for an attack. Maybe this is obvious, or standard in the case of an attack, but to me it was worrisome.

I'm not saying the Navy is going to make a mistake or has, nor am I attacking it's spotless record, I'm just always thinking of the "what if" scenario. I am fascinated with urban planning, and I read a paper on warning systems incase of an emergency at Ginna, in which the population would need to be evacuated. In the early 80's (not 100% sure on the year, but if I wasn't half asleep it's on wiki), there was a problem with one of the coolant fans and there COULD have lead to a serious problem. At the time, there was no way to warn the general public of an issue or to evacuate (if the event turned more serious) and urban planners had to work with nuclear facility personal to develop a plan, which is now SOP in the event of an issue at Ginna. Was pretty interesting. I just want to be PREPARED for any and all scenarios, I mean, the pentagon does have a plan of action incase of a zombie apocolypse :P haha.
