Nobel biochemist: female scientists cause trouble for men in labs

Ahem!

Some minor points to be addressed. Just little ones. You know.

  1. I would not bang anyone at the lab. Or "Love them." Work is not where you go to fine "Love" cut that shit out.

  2. I don't "cry" over samples that go missing, haywire, not grow properly, etc etc I redo the experiment with fresh reagents and make notes. Chat to your colleagues - tell them what happened explain what you think might happened to group partners cause "science" bitches.

  3. I'm not interested in other co-workers emotional needs that are not being meet in any non work related shit. I'm not their emotional blanket or punch bag. See point 1. I'm also not there to pamper arses and make them feel better about the universe. That is not my fucking job.

  4. I'm an in training microbiologist and I've worked with some people who actually do have some fairly impressive credentials. I've done this for 4 years now. I've never "cried" in the lab. I've had pms in the lab, I've had Queen blasting at high volume in the lab, I've got some GMO genetic splicing in the lab next month.... again no fucking tears. I've had steaming acids in a fume hood, but that was moisture in eyes not tears. Kovacs reagent will burn the nose and cause moisture in eyes but no FUCKING TEARS.

  5. Single sex labs? What is this some sort of private school shit? The real world has Drs, morons, orderlies, meat heads and more morons. They come in both Male and Female. It just is.

  6. Most of the time I give off the aura of calm professional detachment. I'm just following SOP and ISO lab protocols, setting up broths and dishes and doing what I can to make it as smooth sailing as possible. I love getting a simple run sheet and told to go set it up. I love having all the reagents and shit I need on hand and all the glass wear fresh out of the autoclave. I love it when all the pippettes are lined up ready to go. It's heaven.

  7. It's hell when you have an honest to god outburst on reddit when you see something so sexist and so bullshit and you think - Can anyone rationally argue with that? Nah! I want to genuinely say this is bullshit and you know it.
