I think to compare these two black album tracks at all to red would be a diss to red. I get what you mean with weird song topics, but just about every weezer album has a couple weird topic songs.

The music itself in these two black album tracks are exactly like what we have in pacific daydream. No real drums, no real guitar - it's like Brian and Pat aren't even in the band anymore. It's not weezer anymore it's Rivers Cuomo making pop music. I hate to gripe about my favorite band but I'm just so sick of being let down. I was super excited for the Black Album, but after hearing these two tracks I just feel like it's going to be a huge let down again. I want Pat on the drums and Brian on guitar. I don't want to hear rivers throw down some super generic beats and call his album "dark" just because he sings about zombies and says the F word.
