After hearing half of the Black Album: I have a lot of thoughts to share. “I’m just being honest” with you. I am worried and have doubts. But have hope and excitement that is as High As A Kite.

It's crazy for me. But after listening to the two new songs over and over again today, I feel myself coming back to Living In LA more. Is it meaningless pop music? Yeah definitely. Does it have pop cliches I despise California Snow and Zombie Bastards for having? Yes, but not the kind I despise (electronic build-ups to chorus'). Is it the direction I want Weezer to go? No, I want EWBAITE and White to be the "new" direction. Does it sound like something every other band is doing this day in age? 100% yes.

I don't know what it is, but I think I enjoy it more than High As A Kite. Which I have no idea why, because HAAK is more in the direction I want the band to be sound-wise. When I first woke up to listen to the songs, I made sure to listen to Living In LA first cause I was expecting it to not be good and after hearing so much praise for High As A Kite. I wanted to save what I expected to be better for last. But I left the HAAK video just feeling kind of let down? I love the verses and bridge. The production on it is amazing, instruments... everything. But the chorus just didn't do anything for me. It felt just so underwhelming for me. I didn't find myself leaving thinking about it or humming it.

Now this brings me to the end of the day. What do I want? A mindless catchy pop song or a meaningful somber tune that stays grounded? For some odd reason, this time I choose the mindless catchy pop song. Something I thought I'd never experience with Weezer, A band I hate for ever finding a drum machine.
