In your response, you come from an angle in which you have nothing to hide, yet the way you responded throughout was dismissive, and seemed self-centered in a unbiased manor. A way of doing things which lead to anger on the other side. I'd suggest responding to the meat of a comment rather than parsing out what benefits you if you want to avoid provoking anger in others, as you come off rather blind.
