Verisign iDefense Graduate Internship - CyberSecurity Project with language skills - Summer 2016

Verisign is looking for enthusiastic and talented computer science/computer engineers to intern with our team for the summer! We operate the internet infrastructure for top-level domains including .com, .net, .tv, .edu, .gov, .jobs, .name and .cc, as well as two of the world's 13 Internet root servers. Verisign's product suite also includes Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Protection Services, Managed DNS and iDefense Security Intelligence Services.

This paid internship opportunity is available in our Reston, Virginia office. This internship is within Verisign's Threat Analysis & Reconnaissance team whose mission is to provide analysis of adversaries, active campaigns and leading indicators of impending attacks.

The interns would work within an interdisciplinary team of engineers and intelligence analysts who evaluate the tools deployed in cyber-attacks as well as the tactics and procedures used by cyber-espionage operators and cyber-criminals for financial gain.

We are seeking a graduate school intern to work on one of several projects. Skills of interest include the ability to reach Russian or Chinese, knowledge of Russian and RuNet cybercriminal issues and resources and knowledge and interest of military and security structures and publications. Ideally, the intern will also have the ability to web scrape, provide automation of extraction of data from websites, grasp criminal terminology, knowledge of cybercriminal underground and knowledge of cybercriminal operations.

Russian Cyber Crime Source Development and Research

East Asia Cyber Crime Research

Russian Policy Capabilities and Assets Survey

Verisign interns have the opportunity to participate in an array of enrichment programs during their internship. Past intern classes have had the opportunity to:

You must be available to work full-time for a minimum of ten weeks during the summer of 2016 and you must be returning to school in the fall.

Additional skills sought for these projects include: Mandarin Chinese or Russian. Knowledge and/or experience in relevant issues an advantage.

Students should be seeking a Masters in International Affairs, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Forensics, Information Systems or other relevant security field.
