It is an Alternative History. Even if it were history, we know period dramas are not the same as history books, but many of us treat them as if they were.

Is this show going to focus on the fiction part of historical fiction and only use Charlotte's name and change everything else?

• For any history buffs, we know the real history of the 19th Century. Some of it is here (scroll down to ”Charters “As Seals of Approval”) and depending on one’s perspective it’s the highlight of the 19th Century OR not ideal for a fluffy romance featuring The Hastings and Sharma's.
• They have explained the Alternative History of Bridgerton's Queen Charlotte in Chapter 1 of the book
