Is it a risk to major in healthcare management?

I'm about to graduate with my B.S. in Health Sciences next semester and am taking prereqs to apply to a sonography program. I have felt pressured to do nursing simply because it seems like the most secure job in healthcare. I would say if you know you don't want to be a nurse major in something you will actually like and want to go to school for.

As far as health admin, you will have to put in the work to network and gain experience. Maybe even get your MHA or MBA so you can apply to administrative fellowships. Medical and Health Services managers are growing at 32% which is amazing and much faster than average. Nursing is only growing at 7% although there are millions of jobs for nurses.

I would visit careeronestop.org and look at the different career profiles and see which ones you could potentially see yourself doing. I would then shadow (even if virtually), maybe get an internship if you can, consider how much education is needed, student loan debt and your debt to income ratio.
