Stick to reason.

Also most scholars changed opinions after a certain time, they evolve in their understanding of the religion.

People will most likely advise you the school of thought mainly followed in your area because they live the same situations as you.

Saudi arabia, and west texas are different in many many many ways.

And your local imam understand that so he will pause a logical judgement that befits your reality.

Just music, Ibn hazm one of the biggest andalus scholars says that it is perfectly Allowed as long as there's no obscene words attached to it, Because music was an intricate part of the andalusian cultur...

Yet and the same time, another scholars in Iraq, would says that onyl in marriages isn't allowed, or only percussions....

You could follow what the Imam in Irak says while living in andalous. But never will you have the right to say "I'm the one who's right"

Imam Malik would pray the same way Imam ahmed prayed, when visiting him. Because they knew both were right!
