It sounds like to me that your Skyrim might be crashing on startup. Download Mod Organizer 2 if you don't have it already and run SKSE64 with it. If you're unfamiliar how, this is how:
If you want to do it without software, open your Task Manager and hunt for SkyrimSE.exe in it. If it shows up for a second and closes again, there's your culprit.
If it's crashing on startup, try disabling your mods and experimenting again. If it lets you in, then troubleshoot which mod is doing it and either use LOOT to try and fix it or do away with the mod entirely.
If you do use LOOT, look at the mod in the page of your mods and see if it says anything, i.e missing patches.
I had the same problem as you when I decided to setup my Skyrim. It's always progress for me; first I'll get the game to go to the main menu, then I have to find out what's stopping me from creating a new game, then I have to find out which mods are causing me to randomly crash mid-playthrough, the latter being annoyingly difficult.
If it turns out that wasn't the problem, try reinstalling SKSE64.
