Sony Admits PS4 First-Party Lineup This Year Is "a Little Sparse"

It's almost like it takes a long time to make quality games on a AAA budget.

Then explain how all these games have and will be released between launch 2013 and early 2016 on Xbox One:

  • Dead Rising 3
  • Fable Legends
  • Forza Motorsport 5
  • Forza Motorsport 6
  • Forza Horizon 2
  • Halo 5 Guardians
  • Halo: Master Chief collection
  • Killer Instinct (Season 1 & 2)
  • Quantum Break
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Ryse: Son of Rome
  • Sunset Overdrive
  • Titanfall
  • Gears of War ultimate edition

Yet in the same timeframe only these were and will be released between launch 2013 and early 2016 on PS4:

  • Bloodborne
  • Driveclub
  • Infamous Second Son
  • The Last of Us Remstered
  • The Order 1886
  • Killzone Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4

Even if we add the big ones we don't know dates for (Street Fighter V and No Man's Land) the PS4 list is still smaller. Can you explain to me the difference between the studios who created these games? Why do Sony get a pass with "it takes a long time to make them" when others seemingly have no problem?

You all know that Sony plays the long game with development right?

Why should that be a defense? People bought a $400 next generation console to play big next generation games. Instead we're stuck with a handful of averagely received games (one of which was massively broken) and an incredibly long list of indie games that are not only available on Steam (and mostly Xbox One too) but that really don't show off the powerful system that we were convinced to buy by misleading marketing?

and it will ramp up significantly for the PS4 over the next 2 years

Again, how is that any consolation? People buy consoles for big AAA exclusives, not 2D platformers and pixel art (as fun as they can be). Sony stood on stage at multiple E3's to claim the PS4 is the only place to play, and the best place to play. 23~ million people fell for it and are now wondering where the games are.
