[Spoilers:all] Picard Hot Take: Average to Bad

Again, since you missed it the first time, I don't care what you think is or is not an acceptable argument. I wasn't quoting what you actually said. I was paraphrasing what you argument sounds like...how your argument is coming across. Your rant that started this whole thing is ridiculous and based on completely misunderstanding Star Trek and/or bitching about how TV is different now and you don't like Star Trek following modern TV motifs and standards.

Point 1) "Bad words," gore, violence, addiction, darker themes...they are all much more common in TV nowadays since, thankfully, we have moved past the pearl-clutching censor days of the past.

Point 2) Data being dead. It's a ridiculous point since, in canon, Data died at the end of Nemesis. Those took place after the TNG finale.

Point 3) The "Mass Effect" point is both out of left field and ridiculous. Sentient AI is a common sci-fi trope. Mass Effect didn't invent the idea of AI rising up, humans getting scared, and there being a massive human vs. AI war. Mass Effect also did not invent the trope of "past civilization leaving a message for the future." Everything in this season of Picard, as well as Mass Effect, has been done before...each one just did it in their own way.

Point 4) You can criticize performances in the show if you want, but that's little more than personal preference about how actor's should or should not interpret a part. There's nothing to argue there. As for "escorting a retiree around the galaxy," that's exactly what they did...because that was the storyline. The story was about a retired Starfleet admiral returning to the field, in an unofficial way, because he didn't feel his former organization was living up to its duties. You just said, and again this is a paraphrase (lest you think I'm quoting you directly again), "I don't like the plot." Okay, don't like it. So what?

And, as I said previously, every single Star Trek series, post-TOS, has received backlash for not being "real" Star Trek or not following what the previous shows have done. So, your critique of Picard is both old and tired.

Again, TV changed, Star Trek changed with it. You don't have to like it, but at least admit that your critique is nothing more than you being hurt that a franchise you like isn't sticking to the same things its done before.
