People who met their partner online, how did your friends/ families react?

Met my ex online, Me UK, Her Estonia. Think I'd known her for a few months and got together around a month or so before we met in Warsaw. Connecting flights my side/ 19 hour bus her side. I don't recall my exact parents reactions but bare in mind I was 23 at this point very insular, didn't get out much bar a full time it job, I wanted to but I guess I let anxieties control me.

I told them all the same day, think I asked my dad first for my passport ( keeps it in a safe) and he was thinking I was pulling a prank, think my mum felt the same. Sister had a good laugh, they were happy for me but definetly heavy on the worry side. First time I'd been on a plane solo, so connecting flights was a tad daunting. Come that morning I woke up to crazy spam from the ex, she'd made it to Vilnius,Lithuania for her bus change over and the second bus driver noticed her id card was a week out of date so didn't let her on.. So there she was stuck half way panicking all before I'd left for the airport. Certainly didn't help with nerves or my families worry but felt so bad for her, luckily she'd been there a few times before. She managed to get her mum to put her passport on the next bus by the time that arrived I'm pretty sure I was in Warsaw. Instead of having her meet me at the airport we met at the apartment at 5am or something. Probably worked out better all things considered. Was dumped not long after booking a 3rd meet, would of been my second time going to her. Wouldn't of worked long term but it was nice while it lasted, took me a while to move on fully and did try to be friends and that didn't go well due to me not fully being over her and me being a knob. Think we'd make good friends one day but not sure the interest is there on her end but alas don't regret taking that risk as it was a lifechanging experience. Also met my current partner online and that was much easier to admit, helps that we're in the same Country and can see each other more often though not at the moment LOCKDOWN yay.
