• The majority (68%) want a peaceful independence.
• 48% still wants independence if it means war.
• 30% wants unification if the PRC became more liberal to the same level as Taiwan.
• 11% wants unification even if the PRC doesn't change.

The PRC is clear on this: Full independence is a red line for them and will lead to war. The majority of Taiwan likes independence but doesn't want to go to war over it. They prefer the status quo because they can get the best of both worlds: Autonomy and peace.

KMT voters want closer ties to China. DPP voters want closer ties to the US.
